It’s carnival time in Felixstowe on Saturday 10th August (2013), When the colourful procession of floats wend their way through the streets of the seaside town.
This year’s theme is Pantomime and promises to be a weekend of entertainment for all the family.
Starting from Beatrice Avenue at 1pm, the procession will follow a slightly different route this year going straight through the town centre, before finishing at Sea Road.
A full weekend of entertainment has also been planned in Langer Park with something to suit all tastes. Starting off on the Saturday there will be a demonstration by the Felixstowe and Ipswich Aiki Jutsu Club and music from the Felixstowe Community Choir, who have gained a large following in recent years and are made up of a group of local people who just love to sing.
If you’re a fan of Strictly Came Dancing then you will love the display by the Kate Cowling Dance Academy, who specialise in Ballroom, Latin and Mordern dance. Their display will include routines by all ages and they are always a popular act.
If Belly dancing is more your thing, then there will be displays from Mystic Belly Dancers and Gipsy Dreams Belly Dance, both promise a lively and colourful show, plus there’s also the chance to have a go yourself.
There will also be many music acts on stage on Saturday, these include Alarm Clock Nation, an up and coming fusion rock band, Heartraker who will be playing some original material. Solo artist Sophia O’ Reilly will also be on stage, some readers, may know her from the Felixstowe Culture Show earlier this year. 2013 Felixstowe Got Talent winners, Pink Lemonade will also be making their carnival debut. The two sisters perform well-known songs from hit musicals, plus they put together their own routines.
