Stoke Library in Ipswich is setting up a friends group and is appealing for local people who would like to support the library.
A meeting is being held on Tuesday 10th September at 6.30pm at the library on Maidenhall Approach for anyone who would like to get involved or find out more about the library.
All the county’s libraries are now run by Suffolk Libraries which is an independent and charitable body set up to run all of the county’s libraries. Each library in Suffolk looking to form community or ‘friends’ groups to ensure the local community has a say in the running of the library and can get involved in supporting it through fundraising or other activities.
The group are keen to hear the views and ideas from the local community so they can support and develop the library in the future. The event is also a great chance to come and see the library if you’ve not been for a while and find about the services it provides.
As the library is based on the grounds of Stoke High School not everyone in the area may realise it’s publicly available to everyone to visit. The library was recently moved to a more accessible location in front of the school in a more modern and refurbished building.
