Police appeal over park assault

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted in Ipswich.

The incident happened in Celestion Drive between 11pm and midnight on Saturday 14 September.

A 27-year-old woman was sitting on a bench in a play park area, when she noticed a man sitting on the bench opposite. The man came over, began talking to the victim and assaulted her. The victim ran away from the offender.

She sustained scratches to her legs and arms as a result of the incident.

The offender is described as a white man, aged in his late twenties, of an average build, of an average build, approximately 5’10” tall, had light coloured hair, and was wearing a dark blue top.

Police are asking for anyone who witnessed the incident or recognises the man described to contact DC James Willcox from Ipswich on 101, quoting crime reference IE/13/2676 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
