Meet Santa at the Railway Grotto

For a magical Christmas treat for your younger children, a trip on a Mid Suffolk Light Railway Santa Special is not to be missed, but trains are filling up fast so early booking is recommended.

WisssteamAll seats must be booked in advance with up to two adults accompanying each child. Trains run from 10.30am until 3.30pm on 1st, 8th and 14th December (15th and 22nd already sold out).

Steam trains will be pulled by ‘Wissington’, the Santa Special steam locomotive, from Brockford Station to ‘North Pole Halt’ half a mile away, where children up to 10 years old will have an individual visit to Santa in his Christmas guards van. Each child receives a present and there will be children’s entertainment and storytelling. The Stations, Brockford and ‘North Pole Halt’ and the Museum, shop and refreshment bar, will all be decorated in full ‘Christmasy’ style to give the visit a real party feel.

Apart from the festive fun, visitors, especially children, can enjoy the unique atmosphere created at Suffolk’s only standard gauge (full sized) award wining railway museum. The Santa Special’s genuine Great Eastern Railway Victorian four wheeler coaches are a historical experience for any passengers, especially younger ones and are one of the main reasons why ‘The Middy’ is the current winner of the Heritage Railway Association’s Interpretation Award.

Priced at £10 per person including drinks and mince pies for everyone – even adults – this is a seasonal treat not to be missed.
