Sarah Millican fans raise cash

Generous fans of funny girl Sarah Millican have dug deep to raise thousands of pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
End-of-show collections after the stand-up comedian played to a packed house at the Regent Theatre in Ipswich raised awhopping £1,879. Add in the £1,942 collected after two shows in September and the total is approaching £4,000.
Mandy Jordan, Fundraising manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, commented: “Macmillan wants to reach and improve the lives of everyone affected by cancer, but currently we can only reach one in two people affected. To change this, and make sure no one has to face cancer alone, weneed to raise more money to fund our support services and develop new ones. The fantastic amount of money raised by Regent Theatre staff andtheir customers will make a lasting difference to the lives of many people affected by cancer and we are extremely grateful to them for supporting us.”
Councillor Bryony Rudkin, Culture portfolio-holder, added: “Our Regent audiences are a lovely lot and it is to their credit that so much was raised from just four shows. Sarah Millican is not only very funny, she also has a big heart and her support for MacmillanCancer Support is doing so much good.”
