Producers and Traders invited to take part in Food and Drink Festival

The hugely popular Ipswich Food & Drink Festival is returning to the town’s Waterfront in May and pitches are now being reserved for local traders wanting to be part of this exciting event.

Building on the success of last year’s inaugural festival, organiser Market Square Group is keen to attract local food and drink producers, growers and restaurants to be part of the 2014 event.

And, as an added incentive, booking discounts are available for local traders offering homemade and locally-grown produce and stalls are included for those selling groceries and crafts.

There will also be a chance for local chefs to take to the stage in the cooking theatre with a schedule that includes cooking demos by one of the world’s best known celebrity chefs.

The Food & Drink Festival is being held at Orwell Quay from May 16th to 18th and will be a three-day celebration of some of the best regional, national and international hot and cold foods and drink available in the UK alongside high-quality kitchen products and crafts.

The family event will also feature a host of attractions including cooking demonstrations, a beer festival, children’s activities and live music.

Paul Kennedy, Market Square Group event co-ordinator, said: “We are delighted to be returning to Ipswich waterfront, working with our partners Ipswich Borough Council and Visit Suffolk.

“The 2014 festival promises to be bigger and better than last year, showcasing the very best homemade, locally sourced seasonal fayre from the local area alongside a tasty, exotic and colourful mix from across the globe.

“We have a fantastic line-up of shopping and tasting opportunities, activities and entertainment, designed to appeal to the whole family, and are keen to ensure local businesses have the chance to be part of this exciting experience.”

Crafters and traders of quality food and drink-related products, such as tableware and kitchen accessories, are also welcome.

Councillor Carole Jones, Economic Development portfolio-holder at Ipswich Borough Council, said: “This is a big date in the Ipswich calendar and offers yet another reason for thousands of people to visit our Waterfront and also explore the town centre.

“There is so much to see and do and a huge range of produce on offer. I hope we see a great turnout.”

In addition to exhibiting at Ipswich Food & Drink Festival, sponsorship opportunities are available, more information www.marketsquaregroup.co.uk
