Long-serving Councillor set to be next Ipswich Mayor

Ipswich Borough Councillor Bill Quinton has been selected by the administration as its choice to be the next Mayor of the town.

Councillor Quinton served as Mayor in 1988-1989 and was the unanimous choice, said Council colleague Bill Knowles: “He has great experience of Council work and was an effective Mayor when he served the town before.”

The Mayor is chosen by all 48 Councillors at a full Council meeting and Mayor-making ceremony. This year that meeting will be held on 4th June.

The current Mayor, Councillor Hamil Clarke, will continue in his role until the meeting on 4th June.
