The Theatre Royal is calling upon the local community to help find a cat who purrrrfectly resembles the famous Vienna, Rigsby’s furry, four-legged friend and star of ITV hit comedy, Rising Damp, in a competition that sees the winning cat (and owners!) meeting the cast, and enjoying a pair of tickets to this hilarious show.
Whether up a tree, feasting on tuna in the kitchen or currently curled up on your lap, the Theatre Royal, along with the cast of the upcoming production of Rising Damp, are asking you to take a long hard look at your precious pet and see if he or she bears any resemblance to Rupert Rigsby’s faithful black and white tomcat, Vienna.
Think your cat stands a chance? Take a quick snap and send it to the Theatre via Email, Facebook, Twitter or good old fashion post and they will compile the community’s entries into an online Facebook gallery, where you can view and vote for your favourite feline.
The winning cat (and its proud owner) will be have the chance to meet the cast on set for a photo. And, the Vienna-like, will also get their paws on a pair of complimentary tickets for the hilarious show. Let’s just hope the chosen cat will be kind enough to give these golden tickets to their loving owner as a little thank you for the photographic genius and tender care, which have led to their success as the competition’s winner!
The competition marks the countdown to the arrival of the brilliant stage adaption of ITV’s top televised comedy, Rising Damp. The stage show is written by Eric Chappell, who, along with writing the original television series, also wrote countless sparkling comic scripts informing the entire landscape of the genre in British Television. The show is directed by Don Warrington, who played the ever-intellectual Phillip in the TV series.
Entries will be welcome until Friday 23 May.
Tabbies need not apply.
