Can you pull this bus??

bbc-bus-art-final1The Big Pull, the last push! On 18th October local charity Suffolk Family Carers is giving you the opportunity to pull their new Family Carers vehicle.

The Big Pull will take place at Trinity Park between 9-3pm and will involve teams of 10 being hooked up to the vehicle to pull it down a 150m runway as quickly as possible, going up against other corporate and community teams. There will also be music, food, drink and prizes for the winners. This event will be the final big fundraising event for Suffolk Family Carers ‘8 days a week’ appeal.

The appeal, to raise £250,000 to buy, equip and run the vehicle – a former bus – is in partnership with BBC Radio Suffolk and the East Anglian Daily Times. The bus has been purchased and transformed into a place where Family Carers can be supported through advice, guidance, information, and a listening ear. The vehicle will also be used to link up with other organisations so that the charity can provide simple health checks, such as blood pressure or cholesterol tests, which will enable Family Carers to look after their own health and allow them to carry on doing what they do best – care.

Anna Haley, Fundraiser for Suffolk Family Carers said ‘we are incredibly excited about our final big fundraising event for the ‘8 days a week’ appeal. We came up with the idea of pulling our new bus because we wanted the event to be centred around the goal for the appeal, and this was perfect! We hope that lots of businesses and community groups will enter teams and put on an incredible show when they compete to pull the bus. We have also got music, food and drinks organised so it is set to be a great end to the fundraising efforts of people both in and out of the county. We are incredibly grateful to Trinity Park for agreeing to host the event and look forward to celebrating the arrival of our vehicle with everyone’.
The charity’s bus is now available and can be booked to attend events across Suffolk to raise awareness of Family Carers in Suffolk. If you would like to book it for your village, call Suffolk Family Carers on 01473 835400.
