See Peter Pan Fly at Snape

Peter Pan flies for the first time at Snape Maltings Concert Hall when the award-winning Co-op Juniors Theatre Company stage Christmas Spectacular in Neverland from Friday 12th December.

This year, the group celebrate their tenth year at the world-famous Suffolk venue, where audiences have been entranced by the show’s scale, range of music and dance, ambitious staging and special effects.

The Co-op Juniors Theatre Company plays to packed houses at Snape Maltings, with audiences approaching 10,000. This year’s show is inspired by the classic story of Peter Pan, given a new twist with an original production featuring the company’s large scale music and dance numbers featuring a cast of 90.

Of course, Captain Hook, Tinker Bell, Tiger Lily, Wendy, John and Michael – and a crocodile! – will all be there, and the audience will see characters fly for the first time in the concert hall’s history.

The group rehearses in a large Ipswich warehouse provided by East of England Co-op, where they have four studios, workshops and storage, and a flourishing costume hire business with over 30,000 costumes in stock.

They also run weekly dance classes in the Ipswich area where hundreds of would-be performers build their confidence and train in different styles of dance.  The classes stage special performances to give the youngsters stage experience and see if they’re suitable to join the main Co-op Juniors.

Each summer, the company stages a major musical, with recent productions including Billy Elliot and High School Musical at Woodbridge’s Seckford Theatre, with Cats and Oliver! at Ipswich’s New Wolsey Theatre.  Cats, directed last year by Oliver Brett, won two national amateur theatre awards for Best Youth Production and Best Production.  This year, he directed Oliver!, a show in which he played the title role as a member of the cast in 2000.
