Talk on the life of a basket weaver

A Town Lecture entitled My Life as a Basketmaker by Bunty Ball will be at Museum Street Methodist Church, Ipswich on Thursday 8th January 2015 from 1pm to 1.50pm.

basketBasketmaking is one of the oldest known primitive crafts predating the weaving of cloth and ceramics. It is the art of taking materials without a firm structure and creating a solid taut form by interweaving them. Basketmaking is everywhere, it can be found in all social classes. It inspires traditional crafts people and the avant-garde in design. Bunty Ball will try to give some insight into her interests in this ancient craft.

The kettle will be on the hob for tea and biscuits at 12.30pm. Although admission is free, a retiring collection of £2.00 will be appreciated. This is to defray expenses incurred in hosting the series.
