One of UK’s best live acts prepare for Ipswich visit

Bellowhead return to the Ipswich Regent Theatre, on Wednesday 22nd April.

bellowheadBritain’s most successful traditional folk act Bellowhead were 10 years old last year. Not only did they mark their birthday in April 14 with two of their biggest sold out shows to date – Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall and London’s Royal Albert Hall – they also surprised the audience by announcing that they signed to legendary label Island Records and soon after released a brand new album “Revival” featuring their powerful and eclectic take on traditional English folksong.

They continued their anniversary celebrations with shows during the summer, their biggest ever UK tour in November 2014 and the announcement of a further 11 dates in April 2015, where they will be playing tracks from the new album plus all the old favourites.

Bellowhead are widely praised for their stunning live shows and often acknowledged as one of the best live acts the UK has produced in recent years, wowing audiences in venues across the UK, Europe and North America and becoming a key fixture on the festival scene. In the process they’ve won BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Best Live Act an amazing 5 times, as well as Best Group twice.

A blistering 11-piece band fusing folk, funk, rock, world, jazz, music hall and classical music, they have placed themselves at the cutting edge of the contemporary music scene while harnessing all the power and mystery of English and European musical traditions.
