45th Annual Vehicle Run

Nearly 600 classic cars, motorcycles, lorries, buses and military vehicles will take part in the 45th annual Ipswich to Felixstowe Historic Vehicle Run on Sunday 3rd May.

The event is organised by volunteers at the Ipswich Transport Museum and is supported by R H Specialist Car Insurance, Galloway Coach Travel and Lavenham Press.
Felix-2-(800x600)s pre-date 1939, and around 100 motorcycles will form part of the spectacle.

Hundreds of onlookers are expected to gather along the route to Felixstowe, which is free to watch in Ipswich, Felixstowe and en route. There will be a souvenir programme produced especially for the event available from event stewards.

Vehicles will depart for Felixstowe at 11.30am. The first vehicles are expected to line up on Felixstowe Promenade from around 12.15pm.

Rally organiser Peter Cansick, who has co-ordinated the run for the Ipswich Transport Museum, said, “The entrants and the public love this event – it’s been a fixture in the calendar for over 40 years and is of the most popular events in Ipswich and Felixstowe. It’s a tribute to all the volunteers who help in staging the event and vehicle owners who take part.”

Museum officials are hoping for good weather as the event is one of the busiest days of the year for Felixstowe’s sea front traders.
