Rossini’s The Barber of Seville

Rossini’s classic comedy transported to Jane Austen’s England

Opera Up Close return to the Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds with Rossini’s The Barber of Seville on 20 May.

This classic comedy has been transported to Jane Austen’s England, a world of eligible bachelors, feisty heroines and snobbish relations familiar from much-loved BBC costume dramas.

Adapted into English and directed by Robin Norton-Hale (La Boheme and La Traviata)
And accompanied by a virtuoso piano score, this is a delightful piece of operatic escapism.
