German Choir to perform in Ipswich and Felixstowe

During May, local music group Trianon will be hosting a visit from the St Johannis Choir, who are based in Luckenwalde in Germany.
The visit will include concerts in Ipswich and Felixtowe where both groups will perform gospel songs, spirituals and contemporary music.  The connection with Germany reaches back to the 1960s and 1970s when Trianon Music Group made several visits to Detmold and the connection with the choir has been maintained ever since.
The Johannis Choir comes from the protestant congregation of St John’s Church in Luckerwalde, a town formerly in the Democratic Republic of Germany and located south of Berlin.  Their church dates back to C1300 and the choir takes its name from the church.  Starting with a small number of singers, the choir has grown and now performs a wide range of music from traditional and modern gospel to pop ballads.  Part of their year is devoted to preparing and performing Baroque music.
The groups will perform together in three concerts, which are all free of charge with a retiring collection.
