In addition to the thousands of livestock and equine competing and showing at this year’s Suffolk Show, are hundreds of dogs of all breeds and temperaments demonstrating the role they play in the countryside.
Among them is the Suffolk Gundog Club, formed during the 1970s, of owners with working spaniels and retrievers who demonstrate on land and in water to show how they want their dogs to fulfil their potential responsibly.
Demonstrations of basic obedience, questing, retrieving and advanced dog handling take place on both days in the Presidents Ring. The demonstrations show gundogs at various stages of their training and how their handlers would expect their behaviour during a typical shoot day for wild game.
Gundogs will also be demonstrating in the Wildlife Area where the pond area gives the chance to see retrieval in the water.
