Family Autumn Saturdays at New Wolsey

This Autumn, spend your Saturdays introducing the younger ones of family to the wonders of live performance at the New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich! Whether you’re aged 3 or 103, there will be something for the whole family to enjoy.

Starting on Sat 12 September, Goblin Theatre present Mr Tiger Goes Wild, adapted from the book by Peter Brown. Mr Tiger lived a perfectly proper life in a perfectly proper city and everything was perfectly fine, until the day he had a wonderfully WILD idea! Join Mr Tiger on a musical adventure full of fun and laughter as he journeys from the city to the jungle.
On Sat 19 September, Jacksons Lane present The Party! – a brand new circus show for all the family.
Come and join in the biggest and best birthday party of all time! A totally madcap celebration where four children come together to celebrate a birthday. Watch as the games go hilariously wrong and the party gets out of control in a feast of cupcakes, clowning, juggling and tumbling as well as a crazy upside down cyclist!

27a.-Me-and-My-CatOn Sat 26 September, A Thousand Cranes present Me And My Cat? based on the book by award winning Japanese children’s author and illustrator, Satoshi Kitamura. Come and join Detective K as she sets off on an exciting and hilarious adventure, full of mysterious clues, golden rules and strange events. Will she solve the mystery of how Nicholas became a cat in time?

Lastly, on Sat 3 October, Compagnie Animotion presents Jo And Billie’s Tour De France. Find out what happens when a French boy and an English girl crash into each other and cannot repair their bikes, how they overcome the language barrier and how Billie discovers her love of all things French. For little and big ones. Don’t forget to wear a beret…!

All shows start at 11am and 2pm, and last under one hour – perfect for those with shorter attention spans (and we don’t just mean the children!).

If you would like to introduce younger theatre goers gently into the world of theatre, you can try a visit to the Storymaker on a selection of Saturdays throughout Autumn.

If you’re 3 or 4 years old and love silly stories and tremendous tales then you’ve got to come and meet the Storymaker at 11am. Mums, dads, grans, grandads, big brothers and big sisters should come too, they can look after you and pick up some tips along the way.

If you’re 5 or 6 you can leave your family downstairs in the New Wolsey Cafe Bar and come upstairs to meet the Storymaker yourself at 12noon for an amazing adventure, or an exciting escapade. Mums, dads, grans, grandads, siblings can come too, but they’ll have to join in with the fun.

Storymaker takes place in the upstairs foyer of the theatre where the children sit on cushions around the Storymaker chair. Tickets are free, though advance booking is recommended as these sessions get very busy! Make sure you only book a place for the children, so the Storymaker knows how many adventurers they have taking part!
