Santa specials at railway museum

For a magical Christmas treat for your younger children, a trip on a Mid Suffolk Light Railway Santa Special is not to be missed.

Steam trains run from Brockford Station to North Pole Halt, where children up to the age of 10 will have an individual visit to Santa in his Christmas Guards Van.

Each child receives a present and there will be children’s entertainment and storytelling. The Stations, Brockford and North Pole Halt and the Museum, shop and cafe, will all be decorated in full Christmasy style to give the visit a real party feel.

All seats must be booked in advance with up to two adults accompanying each child. Trains run from 10.30am until 3.30pm on 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th and 20th December. To book or for more information call 01473 890622 or visit www.mslr.org.uk/santabooking

Apart from the festive fun, visitors, especially children, can enjoy the unique atmosphere created at Suffolk’s only standard gauge (full sized) award wining railway museum. The Santa Special’s genuine Great Eastern
Railway Victorian four wheeler coaches are a historical experience for any passengers, especially younger ones and are one of the main reasons why The Middy was the 2012 winner of the Heritage Railway Association’s Interpretation Award and is the 2015 Suffolk Museum of the year.

Priced at £12.00 per person including drinks and mince pies for everyone even adults it’s a real seasonal treat, but trains are filling up fast so early booking is recommended.

2016 marks the 25th Anniversary of the opening of the new Middy and the railway will be open on January 1st for steam train rides and all the museum attractions, including shop, cafe and real ale bar.  Why not steam into the new year at Suffolk¹s only standard gauge preserved railway.
