Music on the Waterfront

St Peter’s by the Waterfront, the Ipswich based community arts and heritage centre, has a packed February and March of live music from jazz and music from the West End to Rock ‘n’ Roll and other great live acts.

Jazz by the Waterfront 2016 kicks off on Friday 5th February at 7.45pm with the first performance at St Peter’s by Phoenix Jazz Band. Phoenix perform elegant original arrangements from the vaults of Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder rub shoulders with modern classics to create a unique mix with the sound of keyboards, saxophone, guitar, bass, drums and the unforgettable vocals of Vicky Platt.

Tickets and information for all Jazz by the Waterfront evenings cost £10 in advance from jazzbythewaterfront.com and £12 on the door.

Singer/songwriter and vocal coach to local superstar Sam Smith, Joanna Eden is thrilled to be bringing her concert “Joni and Me” to St Peter’s on Saturday 13th February at 7.30pm. Tickets for the evening cost £12.

Her tribute to the legendary Canadian singer/songwriter sold out at its first outing in London and has been touring to packed houses around the UK.

In the last two years Joanna’s life has been turned upside down thanks to her former student Sam Smith who grew up in Great Chishill and studied under Joanna in Saffron Walden. Sam has been singing Joanna’ s praises all over the world as he ascends to pop superstardom with hits like the Grammy winning “Stay With Me” and the James Bond theme “The Writing’s on the Wall”.

Joanna will be joined by one of the UK’s leading pianist Chris Ingham and a young star in the making Lewis Andrews on guitar and bass.

Blue House Music are pleased to be present Raevennan Husbandes on Sunday 21st February from 7.30pm with tickets £8 (plus fee card payment) in advance and £10 on the door.

Raevennan remains a largely undiscovered gem and we’d rather like to put that right because we know what she can do, either on a festival stage or at closer quarters. Her fluid finger picking guitar style and beautiful, clear and heartfelt singing voice can electrify a room and the charming, friendly between song chat provides relaxed smiles all round. This most natural of performers is clearly in her element when she’s playing music to people, and audiences love to go along for the ride. They can’t resist.

After a successful evening of Rock ‘n’ Roll from Aussie band the Lincolns, HardChoiceMusic present an evening with the Hicksville Bombers with support from local group the Jacob Trio on Saturday 27th February from 7.30pm.

The “Bombers”, Dave Guitar/ vocals, Landon Double Bass, Tony Drums, are a rockin’ trio from Lincoln, England, who play rockabilly, rockin’ blues country and rock ‘n’ roll music in a wild and energetic 50’s style.

Since forming in 1992, they have released two EP’s and five CD albums. They have played with a number of bands/musicians including rhythm and blues star Ruth Brown, Charlie Gracie, Lord Sutch, BR549, Kieran Kane, Dead Rekoning, Mike Henderson, Jack Scott, Jets, Matchbox, Dr Hook, Hayseed Dixie, Bill Wyman plus loads more.

Tickets for the evening cost £10 in advance and £12 on the door.
