Half-term Fun at Landguard

There is plenty to keep the little ones amused this February half-term at the Landguard Peninsula in Felixstowe, Suffolk.

Landguard-FortFor the very first time, the historic Landguard Fort will be opening its gates for the February half-term. Come and explore the Fort, plus there is a fun quiz trail for the children to enjoy (for a small additional charge). The Fort will be open from Saturday 13 to Sunday 21 February, 1000-1600 (last entry is at 1500). Adults £5.00, concessions £3.50, children (under 15 years) £2.00, children (under 5 years) free.

Join the Landguard Nature Reserve Ranger in celebrating National Nest Box Week – with the Feed the Birds and Give a Bird a Home event on Tuesday 16 February (1000-1300). Make a simple bird feeder out of an old plastic bottle or a lovely pinecone fat feeder. Forty bird box kits will be available to be built – with the help from the Ranger and volunteers.

£5.00 per box to cover materials. Children will also be able to play the giant Plovers Perils and Perks game, have-a-go at the Giant Puzzle of Landguard Shingle and follow the Garden Bird Trail to find the answers to the quiz for a sweet reward. Information sheets available on the importance of feeding birds and helping some of them find a nesting space.

This event is being held outside the Landguard Bungalow which is a short 10 minute walk from the main car parks near the Fort.

Warm yourself up with a hot drink and some yummy fish and chips at the Landguard Visitor Centre and View Point Cafe, which is open daily from 0900-1600. See how many giant ships you can spot…
