The team behind Felixstowe’s iconic Seafront Gardens are celebrating winning their second award this month.
The Gardens won the RIBA Suffolk craftsmanship award at the Suffolk Joint Consultative Committee Awards (SJCC) on Thursday 12 May at Trinity Park.
The award recognises the quality of materials and craftsmanship in the creation of the gardens’ new shelter.
The SJCC, brings together local members of professional construction bodies including the National Federation of Builders, the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the Institution of Structural Engineers and the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers.
RIBA Suffolk is the Suffolk Branch of the Royal Institute of British Architects and works to promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of Architecture locally.
Cllr TJ Haworth-Culf cabinet member for Customers, Communities and Leisure, said: “We were really pleased to receive this award as it recognises the hard work and craftsmanship that have gone into the gardens.
“The judge said that no other nomination at the awards ceremony had been more talked about due to the impact the regeneration of the gardens has had on the town as a whole. This was really wonderful to hear and we hope the gardens continue to do so as they flourish in the years to come.”
