The Mid Suffolk Light Railway is open every Sunday and Bank Holiday until 29th August and promises a great day out for all the family with rides in genuine Victorian four-wheel carriages, the Middy Museum, souvenir shop, tea room and real ale bar, all open from 11am until 5pm.
There’s a special event this Bank Holiday:
28th and 29th August – The annual Rail’n’Ale Weekend. Savour some of the best local Suffolk real ales whilst taking in the atmosphere of an Edwardian rural railway. Sadly Locomotive Wissington has a small boiler problem (which cannot be fixed until next week) so this weekend’s engine will be Y7 985.
You can see Y7 985 in action HERE»
Then on the 10th and 11th September – The last major event of the operating season will be the Grand Steam Gala when all four of the Middy’s resident locomotives will be in steam. The day will include passenger and demonstration goods trains, some double headed and plenty of opportunity for keen railway photographers.
