Steam Railway Gala

This year’s Middy Steam Railway Gala will be the biggest fund raising event for the Mid Suffolk Light Railway so far with all four resident locos in steam. Running up to four trains an hour will provide a constant spectacle of passenger and demonstration goods trains to entertain families and rail fans alike.

In addition to the standard guage trains, there will also be two miniature steam railways giving rides at either end of the line. Steam model railways, steam road rollers and a display by the Ipswich Model Engineers and a vintage vehicle display complete the Gala line-up.

All the usual Middy services, Museum, café, souvenir shop and real ale bar will be open plus an additional BBQ serving burgers and hot dogs.

Locomotives on the main line will be LNER Y7 no. 985, Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0 ‘Wissington’, Bagnall 0-4-0 no.2565 and the 1906 Cockerill Belgian tram loco, making it probably the first time ever in the history of the Middy that four locos are in steam at the same time.

Once you have your ticket you can have as many rides as you like on any of the passenger carrying railways at no extra charge.

Adults £10.00, Children £5.00, Concessions £8.00 Families (2+2) £25.00

10th & 11th September. Open 11.00-17.00 both days
