Following last year’s record-breaking series of band concerts, the Friends of Christchurch Park are pleased to present the 2017 season of Brass on the Grass. Four sunny Sundays last year brought out their biggest ever crowd to the beautiful surroundings of the Upper Arboretum to listen to the bands, have an ice cream, eat a picnic or just laze in the sun.
This year’s concerts kick off on July 16th with the Ipswich Community Wind Band sponsored by a generous Friend of the Park who has been supporting us for many years. On 23rd July we have a band making their Brass on the Grass debut, the Boxted Methodist Silver Band sponsored jointly by The Greyhound pub and Woodbridge Antiques Centre. And a favourite for their top quality musicianship and great repertoire – from Bizet to Daft Punk – play on the 30th July: The Colchester Band, sponsored by Coes of Ipswich. The final concert on 6th August is performed by the spectacular Ipswich Hospital Band, sponsored by Gotelee Solicitors.
These free concerts start at 2.30pm at the Arts and Crafts shelter in the Upper Arboretum in Christchurch Park, Ipswich (near the Henley Road entrance). Organisers are extremely grateful to the concert sponsors who enable Brass on the Grass tradition to continue.
