HEARS and emergencies
The Ipswich HEARS and CCTV emergency centre staff are on duty 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, so it is no change for them over Christmas.

Bin collections
Waste collections do change over Christmas – there will be no brown bin collections between 29th December and 8th January as the Council puts all its effort into collecting extra waste and recycling materials after Christmas. Brown bin collections will resume on Tuesday 9th January 2018. Blue bin collections are changing over the festive period. You can find out more at www.ipswich.gov.uk/bins

Customer Services
The Customer Services Centre in the Town Hall (both face-to-face and phone staff) will be open in the run-up to Christmas but will be closed on 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26thDecember and on 30th and 31st December and 1st January, reopening on Tuesday 2ndJanuary 2018.

Parks are open every day of the year – unless an icy snap makes paths dangerous. However, the visitor centres in Christchurch and Holywells parks will be closed on 24th, 25th and 26th December as well as on 30th and 31st December and 1st January.

Sports centres, Crown Pools and Fore Street Pool and Profiles gyms offer a comprehensive service, with some change to opening hours, but all the sports centres, Crown Pools and Fore Street Pool are closed on 25th and 26thDecember and on 1st January. Fore Street is also closed on 24th and 31st December.See www.ipswich.gov.uk/christmas for details about sports and other services.

Ipswich Museum, Christchurch Mansion and the Ipswich Art School Gallery are open apart from on 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th December and New Year’s Day.

Cemeteries and Crematorium
Ipswich Cemeteries remain open for visitors throughout the festive period but there will be no cremations or burials on 23rd, 24th, 25thand 26th December nor on 31st December, 1stand 2nd January.

Town Hall / Corn Exchange
The Town Hall & Corn Exchange complex is closed on 24th, 25th and 26th December and on 1st January. The Ipswich Film Theatre is closed on 18th December and from 23rdDecember to 1st January (inclusive).

Regent Theatre
The Regent Theatre is closed only on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day – it’s open at all other times for the Jack & The Beanstalk pantomime – oh yes it is!

Tourist Information Centre
The Council’s Tourist Information Centre will be closed on 24th, 25th and 26th December and on 31st December and 1st January.

Ipswich Borough Council’s Shopmobility service will be closed on 24th, 25th and 26thDecember and closed on 31st December and 1st January.


During the week commencing Monday 25 December, collections will mainly be made one day later than normal, except for collections on Monday 25 December, which will be made two days earlier on Saturday 23 December.
Residents are reminded to ensure their appropriate bin is out for collection by 6am:
