Hollyoaks actor to star in Rope at New Wolsey

Casting has been announced for the Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch and New Wolsey Theatre Ipswich production of Patrick Hamilton’s gripping thriller, Rope.
Hollyoaks and Emmerdale actor James Sutton will star as Charles Granillo in this chilling play. He is best-known for playing John Paul McQueen in Hollyoaks – a role he was thrice nominated for a British Soap Award in 2007 for and shortlisted for a National Television Award in 2007.
Rope will be directed by the Queen’s Theatre’s Artistic Director Douglas Rintoul. He directed James Sutton on As You Like It at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama as well as Corrie star Charlie Condou and Victoria Yeates of Call the Midwife on last year’s acclaimed revival of The Crucible.
Based on a 1920’s real-life case, this dark classic was filmed by Alfred Hitchcock in 1948 and remains to this day one of the most tightly coiled of thrillers.
Rope plays at the New Wolsey Theatre Ipswich from 7th until 17th March. Tickets start from £10, with £10 tickets available in any seats for Under 26s. For more information and to book tickets, call the Ticket Sales Desk on 01473 295900 or visit wolseytheatre.co.uk
