The Riverside Musical Theatre Company: “Showstoppers”

The Riverside Musical Theatre Company (formally known as the R100 Choir) are back performing at The Riverside Theatre on Saturday 23rd June to light up the stage with ‘Showstoppers’, a show full of songs from the world of musical theatre.

Featuring favourites from “Phantom of the Opera,” “Oliver,” “The Greatest Showman,” “Me and my Girl” and “We Will Rock You.” A section of the show is dedicated to the wonderful classics of Rodgers and Hammerstein, another to the late, great, Frank Sinatra and back by popular demand more from Les Miserables. With some well-known Disney tunes thrown in the mix, there really is a song for everyone!

Through their concerts the company has raised a considerable amount of money for local charities and organisations and in the past two years have raised £5000.00 in support of The Friends of St Mary’s Church, Woodbridge, £1020.00 for Heartbeat (Ipswich), and as a supporting act for the annual ‘Brass on The Grass’ Concert at Bredfield raising £2,300.00 for the Samaritans.

The company’s chosen charity for all of their performances this year will be the Jetty Lane Project, Woodbridge’s proposed new community centre for youth and arts.

Stuart Saunders, Owner of The Riverside Theatre says “I’m privileged to have Mike Warden overseeing The Riverside Musical Theatre Company (RMTC) and can’t wait to see the show myself. The Riverside itself is a unique venue, in that many of the performers now singing with RMTC have worked at the venue either selling ice-cream or working in the restaurant before going on to perform in musicals in the West End. I was lucky enough to meet Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber when he dined at the restaurant and looked round the theatre commenting ‘Bravo Stuart, Bravo !’ and am delighted that RMTC will be singing a medley of songs from one of his most popular musicals – Phantom of the Opera.”

Always thinking about future musical productions, the RMTC are looking for additional male voices, bass, tenor and baritone. If you are interested please contact Mike Warden on 01394 384587 or via their Facebook page, The Riverside Musical Theatre Company Woodbridge.

Tickets are £12.50 for matinee and evening show available from The Riverside Box Office 01394 382174 or online at www.theriverside.co.uk
Saturday 23rd June at the Riverside Theatre for two performances at 3pm and 7.30pm.

Don’t miss this incredible show, it really is a Showstopper!
