Chantry Library to reopen on Sundays

Chantry Library in Hawthorn Drive, Ipswich will be reopening on Sundays from this weekend (Sunday 5th August).

The library has been closed on Sundays since Christmas. This was a temporary measure to enable Suffolk Libraries to work with staff and other organisations to tackle some persistent anti-social behaviour issues which seemed to be worse on Sundays.

Suffolk Libraries apologises to customers for any inconvenience during the time the library has been closed and appreciates their patience and ongoing support for the library.

Chantry Library also has some fun and engaging activities for families planned for the next few weeks:

Tuesday 21 August – ZooLab: Motley Zoo session for children. From 11am to 12noon. Children are invited to touch and learn about a variety of small animals with ZooLab. Tickets are only £1 but please contact the library to book your place.

The very popular Beach Bonkers is coming back to Chantry Library on Tuesday 4 September with two sessions from 11am to 1pm and from 2pm to 4pm. This activity is free and invites children and families to find the treasures in Beach Bonkers’ mini shingle beach, handle their amazing artefacts including a mammoth’s tooth and play their giant beachcombing board game. No need to book – just come along.

The library also now has a new telephone number – 01473 927275.
