Heritage Days: Medieval Church opens it’s doors

St Clements Church hidden away on Fore Street, is the last remaining medieval church in Ipswich to find a new use. The church became a redundant place of worship during the early 1970s and is only open to the public on select days. The church will be open during the Heritage Open Days on the 15th and 16th September from 11am until 3pm.

Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, and inspired by last year’s Heritage Open Day visitors, the Ipswich Arts Centre CIC have launched a Memories Project. The Memories Project aims to capture and preserve memories of St Clements Church and the surrounding area.

The Memories Project would like to reconnect with last year’s visitors who inspired the project and hear stories from new visitors. Please speak to a volunteer on the day if you wish to share your story. If you are unable to make the Heritage Open Days, but would like to contribute to the project, please email iacmemories@gmail.com. They would love to hear from you.
