Review: Cinderella – New Wolsey Theatre

The New Wolsey’s Rock ‘n’ Roll panto is always a firm favourite in the festive calendar, and this year is no exception with Peter Rowe’s interpretation of the classic Cinderella bursting onto the stage!

Baron Hardup is all of a fluster when he learns that Prince Charming is coming to Ipswich and that the perfect venue for a Grand Ball is of course the Town Hall. With the help of his daughter, Cinderella and servant Buttons, the preparations are underway, but who will get an invite to the ball?

On a plus side, the Baron’s ‘lonely hearts’ ad has been answered, and Rubella De Zees is also on her way to the town with intentions to wed him. However, Baron Hardup, is indeed… hard-up, and with Rubella’s daughters, Hernia and Verruca in tow, the tale of true love will not run smoothly…

Full of fabulous musical numbers the New Wolsey’s Rock ‘n’ Roll panto never disappoints. The brilliant actor-musicians tell the tale with perfect comic timing and rousing vocal performances. An imaginative set and superb costumes completes this theatrical treat.
There is not a weak link within this talented cast, with strong vocals and clever dance routines, Cinderella is a joy to watch.
With everything you can expect from the classic story line, a very wicked step mother, and ugly step sisters, a handsome prince, a fairy godmother and of cause a lost slipper. But, will Cinders make it to the ball, well there is a moment when the mice eat the pumpkin, so maybe not…

You’ll just have to book tickets and find out for yourself! The Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto Cinderella is at the New Wolsey Theatre until 2nd February. To book your tickets contact the Box Office on, or call the Box Office on 01473 295900.
