Felixstowe & Walton United FC will unveil their stadium upgrades prior to a preseason friendly against a West Ham XI on Saturday 27 July at 1pm. This is thanks to a grant from the Premier League through the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF) – the largest funders of non-league football in the country.
The FSIF grant has enabled Felixstowe & Walton United FC, who play in the Isthmian League Division One North at Step 4, to install a new 100 seater covered stand at the Colneis end of the ground, along with new pitch perimeter fencing and restriction fencing at both ends of the ground.
The new seating amenity has been placed behind the goal, which was previously unused as a spectator area, whilst the pitch perimeter fencing is panelled and has enhanced the safety and comfort of spectators at The Goldstar Ground. The restriction fencing negates the problems of stray footballs encroaching neighbouring gardens – an addition welcomed by neighbours and club.
The project was made possible by a £38,154 grant from the Premier League, which is delivered through the Football Stadia Improvement Fund – the sister organisation of the Football Foundation.
