Kitchen company help Bus Shelter

Local firm Connells Kitchens, Bathrooms & Bedrooms Ltd have decided to give something back to the local community by taking part in a 5K inflatable obstacle course on the 7th September 2019. They have decided to raise much needed fund for The Bus Shelter Ipswich.

The Bus Shelter Ipswich is a not for interest community interest company. They receive no government funding and are therefore solely reliant on donations and volunteers.

The Bus Shelter have just finished renovating their second double decker bus, Cheys, in their bid to aid the homeless in the Ipswich area. Cheys’ main purpose is to act as a mobile drop-in centre and outreach hub where during the day people will be able to come inside and discuss all sorts of problems with trained staff. At night it will provide an outreach service to homeless in whichever town they are situated at during that day. They will have a Wi-Fi workstation for people to use the internet to sort out their benefits, housing, to make appointments and organise interviews. There will also be a small kitchen where hot and cold drinks and snacks will be served from and a private room and office for people to discuss more intimate issues. There will also be at least one first aider on board and once completely ready they will be able to offer up to six people a bed for the night in extreme weather conditions.

Their first bus, Tiffers, has been transformed into temporary accommodation to enable the homeless from Ipswich and surrounding areas to turn their lives around and integrate back into society. The Bus Shelter soon realised that offering a bed for one night was not curing homelessness in Ipswich and therefore changed the way they used the bus. It is now a temporary accommodation for people while they clear debts, sort out their benefits, kick substance and alcohol addictions, get jobs, housing and anything that is needed to be able to get on their feet.

The Bus Shelter also has outreach vans that travel the area helping the homeless in any way they can

As you can imagine there are huge costs with keeping the vehicles on the road with fuel, MOT’s repairs etc so every donation is hugely appreciated by everyone at The Bus Shelter.

If you are able to donate please go to https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/tiffers-bus-shelter. Every penny Connells Kitchens Bathrooms & Bedrooms raises is invaluable.
