Craftworkers from across Suffolk will hold their November Craft Fair at Sailmakers Shopping Centre this weekend.
Home of Suffolk Arts And Crafts (HOSAAC), the co-operative of local craftworkers, will be there this Friday and Saturday from 11am to 4pm with stalls selling locally-made pottery, home-sewn goods, book crafts, photographs and prints, jewellery and glass and wooden gifts.
Among them will be Ida – I – Thomas, a mental health support worker for the NHS in Ipswich, who will have a range of Christmas wreaths made from recycled materials, as well as her spectacular book art.
She said: “My crafts started at work where one day a week we do art and crafts and I would do something out of different materials.
“I use all sorts of different things for the wreaths, including plastic, tinfoil and magazines and books because I like the ideas of recycling.
“I have also enjoyed doing book art, folding the pages to create things and I find it helps me to be creative and stay calm and cool.
“I always have a book I’m working on and people are fascinated to see how it’s done.”
Sailmakers Shopping Centre Manager Mike Sorhaindo said: “The local crafters are a regular attraction here now and will be in the run-up to Christmas.
“We like to make the space we have here available for the community and they have been very popular with our shoppers and the craft fairs are all part of our Christmas offer this year.”
