Preschool project to bring the community together

Supported by funding from East Suffolk Council, a new intergenerational event launched this week bringing preschool children together with older members of the Nacton and Bucklesham community.

East Suffolk ward councillors for Orwell and Villages, Cllrs Richard Kerry and Melissa Allen donated £200 from their Enabling Communities Budgets to the Nacton and Bucklesham Under 5s Preschool. The funding will provide food and games for a new weekly intergenerational event being held at the preschool, located at Nacton Village Hall.

Supported by the East Suffolk Communities Team, a launch event took place on Wednesday 29 January and members of the local community were invited to join the children for games and refreshments. The event will then run every Wednesday throughout term time, between 9.30am and 11.30am.

Anyone attending the events is welcome to bring a board game and any old photographs of the local area to share with the children.

Community groups wishing to apply for Enabling Community Budget funding should contact their district councillor or visit www.eastsuffolk.gov.uk/enabling-communities-budgets
