With Storm Ciara forecast to bring strong winds to Suffolk tomorrow Ipswich Borough Council is advising people to take extra care, particularly in parks and open spaces.

A decision on whether or when to open or close the town’s major parks will be taken first thing on Sunday but some open spaces cannot be locked and residents are advised to avoid wooded areas when the wind speeds are at their highest. Closure of Christchurch Park will affect Christchurch Mansion opening times – if the park remains closed, so too will the Mansion. Please check on social media and www.ipswich.gov.uk

A Council spokesman said: “It is hard to predict exactly when and how strong this latest storm will be but we always advise residents to take precautions. We will decide early tomorrow whether to delay opening our major parks and cemeteries for visitors or to keep them closed.”
