Ipswich Borough Council opened the town’s parks and cemeteries at 10am today but advised visitors that they could be closed again at very short notice if wind speeds increase during the day.
“Our teams were out at daybreak to inspect the parks and to clear up any debris and check for tree damage inflicted by Storm Ciara. We delayed opening until this was completed but it is still very blustery and the situation will be monitored through the day,” said a spokesman.
Services at Ipswich Crematorium are going ahead as scheduled today.
Christchurch Mansion does not open on Mondays.
Many open spaces across the town cannot be locked and the Council has repeated its advice to residents to take extra care and to avoid wooded areas in high winds.
