Fort opens for Half Term

Landguard Fort first opened for the half-term holiday back in 2015 and received 700 visitors.
By last year this had risen to 1400. This shows that people need somewhere to go during the school holidays and the fort is ideal. Grandparents looking after the little ones that week can get them out of their living rooms looking at screens and get them in the fresh air with a bit of exercise. As usual there will be a trail for the youngsters to explore and enjoy and learn from. And othe shop will be open with a selection of hot drinks to drive away the chill. There is nothing like a hot chocolate or a Bovril to thaw you out. They also serve tea and coffee and soups.
Landguard Fort are only open the week 15th to 23rd February but then from Easter they will open every day until the end of October. The fort is run by volunteers and they are always looking to recruit new ones. You may like working in the ticket office or shop. You may fancy learning to be a guide. the maintenance team includes people with a variety of skills who will take you under their wing and help you develop your own skills. Gardeners may want to join in the battle of the brambles in the Left Battery.
