Opera: Madama Butterfly

Award-winning opera producer Ellen Kent returns to Ipswich’s Regent Theatre for another stunning shows.

Full of passion, romance and tragedy, don’t miss the opportunity to see this traditional art form. Whether you are an opera aficionado or have never been to one before, this is an unmissable experience.

The tragic opera Madama Butterfly is one of the world’s most popular operas and the hit West End musical Miss Saigon is based on Puccini’s tragic tale. The opera tells the heart-breaking story of the beautiful young Japanese girl who falls in love with an American naval lieutenant – with dramatic results.

Ellen Kent’s traditional production features international soloists, full chorus and orchestra. Highlights include the melodic Humming Chorus, the moving aria Un bel di vedremo (One Fine Day), the famous tenor aria Amore o grillo (Love or fancy) and the unforgettable Bimba, Bimba, non piangere (Love Duet).

The production will be sung in Italian with English surtitles.

• Come to the Ipswich Regent Theatre for a night at the opera, with Madama Butterfly on Saturday 14th March. Tickets are available by calling the Box Office on 01473 433100
