Have you booked a holiday? and now wondering what to do or where you stand? The team at Deben Travel and Cruise Ready offer you some support and understanding during this extremely challenging time. They have put together the following Q&As of common concerns for their clients (although the basic details apply to us all).
Q – The Foreign Office have advised against all but essential travel to the 15th April, what happens next?
A – If we have not already been in contact we will be. Depending on the type of holiday you have booked you will be offered a credit note, full refund or asked to claim from your insurance provider.
Q – What should I do if I am travelling after the 15th April and my holiday has been cancelled?
A – Jet2, TUI, Kuoni and many other operators have cancelled holidays to the end of April. We will be in contact with your options which will include a credit note, full refund or insurance claim.
Q – I have booked airport parking, airport hotels, excursions and and other attractions, will I receive a refund?
A – We must look at each element and if you are at a loss we recommend contacting your insurance provider.
Q – If I am travelling later in the year and not yet paid my balance what are the options?
A – To avoid losing the deposit paid we can look at transferring your holiday to a later date which may include 2021. Please keep in touch, if your balance is not paid your holiday may automatically be cancelled and you will lose your deposit.
Q – Should I book a new holiday?
A – Holidays are now on sale up to 2021. Please check with your insurance provider to ensure you have full cover at the time of booking.
Q – What should I do I can not come in to the shop due to self isolation?
A – Please call or email us. It is not essential for you to come in, balance payments can be paid by phone and we can post you anything essential.
Q – Are Deben Travel financially secure?
A – Deben Travel are an established business with good financial reserves. We are being prudent at the moment and will also be taking advantage of government support.
We are a little unique in that we are paid a referral fee by the airline / tour operator once we have collected full payment for a holiday, no new holidays being booked with balances being paid equals no referral fees. Our greatest challenge is the volume of cancellations, as when a booking is cancelled our referral fees are taken back by the airline or tour operator.
It’s not been easy but we are proud to say that all our customers that were overseas are now home or have confirmed flights in place.
