Sadly, the current circumstances have led the New Wolsey to make the decision that all shows at the Theatre will be cancelled until September this year.
A statement says: “With everyone’s safety in mind, we felt that this would be the best decision to ensure that we come back happy and healthy in the autumn. The current social restrictions mean that theatre companies won’t have time to rehearse their shows in time for Summer. We’re encouraging our audiences to think of this merely as an interval in the New Wolsey’s show, with the promise of a magnificent second act that will be worth the wait.
“We’re asking people not to call us about ticket refunds. We have a team working hard to contact everybody with tickets and people can expect to be contacted in the coming weeks.
“We have already been overwhelmed by the generous support shown by the people and organisations around us. Any donations for cancelled shows will be divided between the theatre and the visiting company. Performers and small theatre companies are particularly vulnerable at this time and we will do all we can to support them.
“Our Rock’n’Roll panto, Jack & the Beanstalk, is on sale and Autumn Season will be on General Sale on Saturday 11 April. Due to the social restrictions we can’t guarantee that our Box Office will be staffed throughout the coming weeks, so we’re encouraging people to book online.
