Volunteers in Ipswich take part in the Great British Spring Clean
During Friday 28th May to Sunday 13th June 2021, volunteers in Ipswich took part in their own community litter picks as part of the national campaign Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean.
Almost 100 litter pick kits were loaned out by Ipswich Borough Council for litter picks all over Ipswich, with residents, schools and workplaces helping for an hour or two picking up litter in the area of Ipswich where they live, work or study, this included some of the youngest ‘little’ pickers to ever take part at only 4 years old.
An estimated two thirds of a tonne of litter was collected by volunteers over the two week period, something which all those that took part should be very proud of.
Councillor Phil Smart, Ipswich Borough Council’s environment portfolio holder, said: “I’d like to thank all the volunteers who took part and dedicated their time to the Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean. It’s been encouraging to see so many families taking part in litter picks in their communities across the town. Don’t forget that you can borrow our equipment all year round and show how much you love your street!”
Congratulations to Reuben, aged 6 (pictured) who wins the DiGBY goodie bag!
