Coronation Steam – 7th and 8th May

Suffolk’s only steam railway museum, The Mid-Suffolk Light Railway, will be open for the two days following King Charles III’s Coronation.

For a complete change of pace from all the celebrating, go along and join in the fun at a rural railway of the early 20th century. Steam trains, Victorian carriages and staff with a volunteer attitude.

Not to be totally overshadowed by the Royal event they expect to be running two locos in steam, plus the award winning Shredded Wheat shunter ‘Shreddie’ and Wickham trolley, so plenty to watch but no tiaras! .

Resident Locomotives are the Cockerill Belgian well tank tram loco, over 100 years old, and 80 year old Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0 saddle tank ‘Wissington’ will be on passenger train duties during the weekend.

Each day there will be steam train rides in genuine Victorian 4-wheel carriages and the Museum, cafe, Restoration Shed, souvenir shop and Middy’s real ale bar will all be open too.
