Dog Day Raises £50,000

St Elizabeth Hospice’s much-loved Suffolk Dog Day returned to Trinity Park on 31st August, attracting over 1,500 visitors, hundreds of dogs, and raising more than £50,000 for the charity.

The event featured fun dog classes, agility and scurry activities, over 60 stalls, children’s entertainment, Crufts-style competitions, and a wide variety of food and drink.

James Fox-Golding, Events and Challenges Manager at the hospice, said:
“What a pawsitively perfect day! It’s been fantastic to see smiling faces and wagging tails, as the community came together to celebrate our four-legged friends and support the hospice.”

Highlights included the Best in Show award, won by Ellen Sutcliffe and her springer spaniel, Tig. Ellen said:
“It feels amazing to win. We’ve been coming for three years, and Tig loved the scurry area. Supporting the hospice makes the day even more special.”

Sponsored by Gladwells Pet & Country Store and Skinners, all proceeds support St Elizabeth Hospice, which cares for more than 4,000 patients and families each year across East and Mid-Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney. The hospice’s services cost around £12 million annually, with 70% funded by local community support through events like Suffolk Dog Day, shops, fundraising, and donations.
