Join Ipswich Choral Society for a warm and uplifting evening of beautiful choral music.
Ipswich Choral Society returns this spring with a magnificent programme of choral masterpieces, centred on Mozart’s great Mass in C minor. The performance takes place on Saturday 25th April 2026 at 7.30pm at St John the Baptist Church.
One of Mozart’s most powerful and dramatic sacred works, the Mass in C minor combines grandeur and lyricism in music of thrilling intensity. The programme also includes Mozart’s sparkling motet Exultate, jubilate and the much-loved Ave verum corpus, alongside Haydn’s vibrant Insanae et vanae curae.
The choir will be joined by an outstanding line-up of soloists: sopranos Madeleine Holmes and Catherine May, tenor Jonathan Hanley and bass Finlay Bloore. They will perform with the ICS Festival Orchestra, led by Kathryn Parry, under the baton of Christopher Borrett. This promises to be a memorable evening of uplifting and inspiring music, showcasing the richness of the Classical choral tradition.

Looking ahead, Ipswich Choral Society is also preparing for an exciting visit to Arras in France, Ipswich’s twin town, at the end of May, where the choir will give a couple of performances as part of its cultural links programme. Closer to home, Ipswich Choral Society will be sharing some of the Arras programme by performing on the Ipswich Arts Association Classical Stages for Ipswich Music Day on 5th July.
For Autumn 2026, regular Tuesday night rehearsals start from 1 September, working towards the Autumn concert on 14th November. This will be a performance of Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle at Ipswich Minster, a piece last performed by Ipswich Choral Society in 2009.
