GREASE IS THE WORD
Since its founding in 2009 by Bridie Rowe, CTC College of Performing Arts has grown from a modest local initiative into one of Suffolk’s most dynamic performing arts institutions. What began as summer workshops in a local school hall has evolved into a fully-fledged training hub, shaping the next generation of performers with ambition, professionalism, and a clear sense of identity.
Today, CTC offers an impressive range of pathways. Its full-time provision—a two-year sixth form Level 3 RSL Extended Diploma in Musical Theatre—delivers rigorous, industry-focused musical theatre training. Alongside this, the part-time CTC Academy nurtures its younger members, while the elite CTC Associates programme provides advanced training for those demonstrating exceptional promise. Completing the structure is CTC Management, an in-house agency that bridges the gap between training and professional work, giving students a tangible route into the industry.
The organisation’s physical home reflects its ambitions. Based in its own studios in Needham Market, CTC operates within a modern, vibrant professional hub tailored specifically for performing arts training. The facilities are not just impressive—they are purposeful. With sprung flooring for dance, a Sonos surround sound system, a fully stocked costume and prop store, scenic workshop, and floor-to-ceiling mirrors and windows, the environment mirrors that of top conservatoires and rehearsal studios across the UK.
Crucially, CTC’s success is not measured only in facilities but in outcomes. Its full-time college boasts a 100% graduate success rate, with students progressing to some of the UK’s most prestigious performing arts institutions, including Arts Ed, Bird College, Laine Theatre Arts, Performers College, Urdang, Wilkes Academy, and The Brighton Academy. This consistent progression speaks volumes about the quality and credibility of the training on offer.
CTC is also widely recognised across Suffolk for its national award-winning productions. This summer, the spotlight turns to Grease the Musical at The Apex—and expectations are sky-high.
Packed with unforgettable hits, high-octane choreography, and the rebellious spirit of Rydell High, this production promises to be a bold, electrifying celebration of youth, energy, and nostalgia. Audiences can expect all the iconic moments they love, brought to life by a cast of exceptionally trained young performers who combine technical excellence with raw stage presence.
With CTC’s reputation for delivering work of a professional calibre, this isn’t just another production of Grease—it’s a full-scale theatrical event. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or discovering it for the first time, this is Grease as you’ve never seen it before: bigger, sharper, and bursting with talent!
GREASE The Musical will be at The Apex, Bury St Edmunds from 1st until 4th July. To book tickets visit www.theapex.co.uk or call the Box Office on 01284 758000
