Storm Francis: care needed, says Council

Ipswich Borough Council is advising people to take extra care, particularly in parks and open spaces, with Storm Francis forecast to bring strong winds on Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th August.

Parks and cemeteries are set to open normally on Tuesday morning but could close at short notice, said a spokesperson: “It is hard to predict exactly when and how strong this latest storm will be but the safety of residents always comes first. Many of our open spaces cannot be locked so people should take extra care and avoid wooded areas in high winds.”

If the storm persists into Wednesday, the Council will take a decision on opening parks as early as possible on that morning.

Closure of Christchurch Park will affect Christchurch Mansion opening times – if the park is closed, so too will the Mansion. Please check for updates on Twitter @IpswichGov.
