Town Hall kitted up for Euro 2020 final

Ipswich Town Hall is donning St George’s flags and lighting up red this weekend in support of the England team’s Euro 2020 final on Sunday night.

The Mayor of Ipswich, Councillor Elizabeth Hughes, said: “It is nearly 55 years since England’s men’s team last played in a major football final on 30th July 1966 and I’m really looking forward to supporting Gareth Southgate’s team on Sunday in their match against Italy. Who knows, he might soon join our two Ipswich Town managers as a knight of the realm.

“I am sure there will be plenty of St George’s flags on display across Ipswich over the weekend and I am delighted we have been able to get involved by displaying not one, but five on the Town Hall. It is great to see such support for our national team. Hopefully it won’t be a further 55 years for the team to get to another final – 2076 seems an awfully long way away!”
