Holbrook Primary Commemorates VE Day 80
Holbrook Primary School recently marked the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a memorable and meaningful series of activities. Students were visited by a speaker from Blue Cross who shared fascinating stories about the vital roles animals played during the Second World War.
Adding a personal touch to the day, a former teacher Mrs. Pullan visited the school to share her childhood memories of VE Day. She brought with her a collection of wartime memorabilia, including an original copy of The Daily Telegraph dated 8th May 1945, offering students a tangible connection to the past.
In the spirit of remembrance and family heritage, pupils were invited to bring in their own family mementos from wartime Britain, which they proudly shared with their classmates.
To mark the occasion, the school flew the commemorative VE Day 80 flag and adorned the grounds with handmade VE Day bunting, created by the students.
