Wendy Hotfoots It for Suffolk Family Carers

Ipswich24’s Wendy Cook will be taking part in a sponsored walk this autumn, with a difference.

Wendy, who is co-owner of Fizzwig Designs, the company who publish Ipswich24 Magazine, will be taking part in a Firewalk at Ickworth House on Thursday 18th September to help raise funds for BBC Radio Suffolk’s 8 Days A Week Appeal which is raising money to buy and equip a mobile Family Carer Centre for Suffolk Family Carers.

wendyfire“I’m really excited to have the opportunity to take part in the Firewalk, although I must admit I’m a little apprehensive.” said Wendy “Suffolk Family Carers is a fantastic charity and it’s great to know that the money raised will stay right here in Suffolk, helping local people.

“I’ve always wanted to have a go at Firewalking, however, now I’ve found out just how hot the coals will be, I think it will be a little scary.” Continued Wendy, “I’ve been told that we will get proper training before we attempt the stunt – It’s going to be a real ‘Don’t try this at Home’ moment.

“The Firewalk will be 20 feet in length and, I’ve been told the coals can reach temperatures of 1200°F – more than hot enough to BBQ on!” Wendy Concluded, “I’m really hoping that our readers and clients get behind me and help me to raise money for this worth while charity.”
Wendy will be one of over 30 people taking part in the walk, and members of the public are invited to come along on the evening and offer their support. Gates open at 6.30pm and there will be entrainment to keep spectators amused, plus, a licensed bar and food concessions for those that get peckish!

The money raised by the BBC Radio Suffolk Appeal will buy and equip a specialist vehicle, which will enable Suffolk Family carers to deliver information, advice and support, plus a place where Family Carers can be listened to and helped according to their needs.
