Review: Crazy For You

Full of fabulous musical numbers and high-energy dance routines Crazy For You bursts onto the Ipswich Regent Stage.

Bobby (Tom Chambers) works for the family bank in New York, however is heart is really set on a stage career, so when his mother sends him to repossess a failing theatre in Deadrock, Nevada are his fortunes about to change?

Bobby soon meets and falls in love with Polly (Charlotte Wakefield), the daughter of the owner of the ailing theatre, however she certainly doesn’t feel the same way about him. To save the theatre, live out his dream of being on stage, and maybe even win the girl, Bobby decides to put on a show, but will the people come to this sleepy down to see it?

Featuring a musical score of George Gershwin songs including; I Got Rhythm, Shall We Dance, Nice Work If You Can Get It, They Can’t Take That Away From Me and Someone To Watch Over Me, Crazy For You is performed by a talented cast of actor musicians.

Tom Chambers, as you would expect, excels in the high-octane dance numbers and is on stage pretty much throughout the show however his energy is never lacking.

Charlotte Wakefield is definitely the star of the night in this reviewers eyes, beautiful dance performances and an amazingly strong vocal, she is extremely watchable and really brought the stage alive.

Crazy For You has a very strong cast, including Claire Sweeney, whose raunchy number in the second half was well received by the audience. The show makes for a very enjoyable evening at the theatre with a production that really gives you a feel good factor.
